Lithuania opens first counter-mobility equipment park

VILNIUS, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — Lithuania has opened its first counter-mobility equipment park near Vilnius, and begun filling it with engineered obstacles, the Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania said on Thursday.
Elements of roadblocks, a reserve barrier, and other park components were presented during an event on Thursday at a training area in Pabrade.
Defense Minister Laurynas Kasciunas emphasized the effectiveness of counter-mobility measures, which he said will help increase the country’s deterrent and defensive potential.
In late July, the Lithuanian government gave the go-ahead to implement certain counter-mobility measures, including setting up equipment parks, roadblocks, and tree alleys along road sections.
A total of 27 counter-mobility parks are to be set up in Lithuania, and filled with engineered obstacles. ■
